This page is for all the people who go to the Philly Guitar Show, which is now being held in Central Jersey (go figure). I am including pics and reviews of the show, some of the gear I saw or tried out and general info for anyone who is into the Guitar Show thing. I go every time as I live close by and this is better than hearing from the google group as you can see the pics.

I will admit, I'm biased toward Jazz, but I love looking at just about everything there. These shows are great and feature a wide variety of Guitar related items from books, CDs, straps etc to the adoption of Greyhounds! I mostly look at the custom high end guitars and I am not a fan or collector of vintage. I think the whole idea is a kind of sham but some people love that stuff. No offense and I will try to include some interesting vintage if I see any.

Email me with any questions or comments!

UNDSo..here is the place. Its the Great American Guitar Show put on by BEE 3 vintage. It used to be the 'Fall Philly' Show, but is in Somerset NJ now. Its much better in NJ, as the show seems to be bigger, especially the summer show in May. This fall show was much smaller but still worth goin for me. The biggest and best show used to be in Long Island, but has scaled WAY down in the last few years, although the jazz bar still has the greatest players in the world for 10 bucks all day. I no longer make the drive to LI.

Here is what you see when u first go in. LOTS of guitars. It takes about 2 or 3 hrs to see it all.

One of the aisles.

TThis is a typical vendor booth.

ddHere are 2 SGs from 1965. These are 'Specials'. I took the pic because this was the guitar I first started on many years ago. Mine is from 1964 which I bought brand new at Charles and Mary Music in Wilkes Barre, Pa in 1969 (NOS). Just a little nostalgia here...and yes, I still have mine though I never play it.

My good friend in 1970 (Ray DelPrior) had this guitar but later sold his for about 200 bucks. This one was going for about 3 grand or so.

This is the guitar on the cover of the magazine. Check out the tag at $325K. Do you guys think this guitar is worth this? Please forward your comments and I will post them on the guestbook

THis is a Jr like Leslie West used to play. You get a much stronger attack with the single pup model (imho). These are 7k each.
Yes..this is real and playable! I think its cool and I wish the show had more of this than the vintage shmintage.
THis is the Dale Unger booth. He is one of my favorite makers. He had great 7 string there but it was sold (16k). The one shown here was for sale, but I already have a floater.

Vic Juris and Ed Laub playing at the Dale Unger Booth. FREE CONCERT!!

TA Jimi Hendrix V. Cool paint job.

Frank Dibussula....Frank I know I just killed your name..ill fix it , PROMISE! Frank is an awesome player and a nice guy. He also gave a free concert. People play all day at these shows. Defineatly worth 10 bucks admission.

This is a Gibson LeGrand. I played it through a Carr amp. With the Armstrong hummer it sounded much better than the ones with the JS pup.I recently put a Bartolini on mine. Fantastic. I also have a pickguard with a kent Armstrong...i like the KA a little more on this guitar, but use the Bartolini on a few others and its awesome. I highly recommend dumping the stock Gibson parts and get the good stuff.

These are racks for storing about 5 to 7 guitars. They go for about 250 bucks. Really nice, unless you have 35 guitars like I do.

65K? Again..is this guitar so much better that someone would pay this?

This is a Gibson 330. I had one of these in the early 70s. I was loading it into my van along with my amp. I put the amp in, but forgot to put the guitar in. I got in the van and backed up over the headstock. Whoops. I took it to Alex on 48th st. He gave me $75 for the guitar and parts. I find out later that it was an easy fix and this guitar is now worth thousands.

HHere is a 335 from the dot craze. Price tag says $99k. I never understood the dot thing as they look kinda lame. Carlton mad them popular I guess. I really do like the new Alvin Lee version as it is a much nicer 335 and much more versitile with the middle strat pup...but thats just me.

Gold tops...some of these look 'too new'. Im sure these are real as the dealers are reputable, but I have seen some fake Gibsons at the show. WELL>>THATS IT FOR FALL PHILLY! THere is a show in Wilmington DE in November. Not sure how it will be, but I will post pics here. Email me with any comments on the show!

The following was not at the show...but I KNOW its everyones dream axe! Check it out!

I hear it has a real "Ballsy" kinda sound.
